Srikakulam District Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar Stated that 737 buses would be run from all across the Srikakulam district to the Bhogapuram airport in Vizianagaram district on 1 August, 2026, according to The Hindu. The collector stated that all the arrangements were in place for the public meeting to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport premises on Saturday.
According to the collector, special control room has been set up to monitor bus operations and the LED screens have been installed in various locations to inform the public about the facilities at the new airport, and drone footage displayed on these screens on Wednesday received appreciation from the people.
Meanwhile, TDP leaders in Srikakulam district are expressing happiness over the construction of the airport at Bhogapuram. Boyina Govindarajulu, Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Kalinga Komati Corporation and a senior TDP leader, stated that the airport's construction was completed rapidly due to the constant monitoring by Srikakulam Lok Sabha MP and Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu. He stated that this airport would be highly beneficial for air travelers. He noted that while one previously had to travel all the way to Visakhapatnam, the new airport is now just a 45-kilometer journey from Srikakulam.
N. Eswara Rao, the BJP MLA for the Etcherla Assembly constituency, said on Thursday that the region is poised to become a major industrial and economic hub in Andhra Pradesh, given that the distance between Bhogapuram and Pydibhimavaram is only 20–25 kilometers. Accompanied by other public representatives, he visited the airport site and reviewed the arrangements—including food provisions—made for the public attending the inauguration scheduled for August 1, 2026.
"Bhogapuram, Pydibhimavaram, and Etcherla all lie along the same stretch of National Highway 16. This corridor is already renowned for the multinational bulk drug industries located in and around Pydibhimavaram. Now, the airport, an aviation university, and the Reliance Data Center will further drive the region's rapid development. The existing civic infrastructure along this route will also make it an attractive place for people to settle down happily," Mr. Eswara Rao said.
