Kurnool: On the eve of the 135th birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, senior advocate Jayaraju Yeggoni stressed that Ambedkar Jayanti should go beyond ceremonial tributes and inspire deeper reflection on the state of constitutional values in the country.

He stated that Ambedkar, as the chief architect of the Constitution, laid a strong foundation for a democratic republic rooted in justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

Highlighting Ambedkar’s enduring legacy, Yeggoni said his vision was centered on eliminating caste-based discrimination and establishing a society governed by constitutional morality.

He emphasized that Ambedkar believed institutions must function independently to safeguard citizens’ rights and ensure that governance remains accountable and inclusive.

Speaking to The Hans India on Sunday, Jayaraju raised seeious concerns over recent trends, he pointed to issues such as curbs on freedom of expression, the growing influence of majoritarian ideologies, and the weakening of democratic institutions. He also cautioned that frequent constitutional amendments driven by political motives could dilute the spirit of the Constitution, while persistent social inequalities indicate that the goal of social justice remains unfinished.

Calling upon citizens to play an active role, Jayaraju urged people to remain vigilant in defending democratic principles.

He stated that the true tribute to Ambedkar lies in protecting fundamental rights, strengthening institutions, and promoting equality and fraternity in society. He added that Ambedkar Jayanti should serve as a reminder of the collective responsibility to preserve the Constitution and its core values.
