Innovators across India meet at hackathon

Visakhapatnam: Bringingtogether startups, innovators, clinicians and industry leaders to rapidly develop technology-driven solutions for pressing healthcare challenges, the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) launched the MedTech Hackathon 2026: Hack Health: Innovate to Heal.
Organised till April 7, the hackathon witnessed over 300 participants, including more than 150 startups and teams, from all over the country, reflecting the accelerating momentum of India’s medtech innovation ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, AMTZ MD and Founder CEO Jitendra Sharma said, “The hackathon serves as a collaborative platform where innovators can learn, create, and make their ideas a reality in healthcare. Whether your concept is an app, a diagnostic device, or a complex medical instrument, the key is to build a working prototype, define a clear path to success, and gain hands-on experience.”
He further added that at AMTZ, incubation, co-incubation, or strategic partnership provides the infrastructure, tools, and guidance to transform R&D and prototypes into impactful healthcare solutions.
Over four days, participating teams, including startups and students, will showcase their ideas to a panel of evaluators. They will engage in intensive prototyping, hands-on problem-solving and collaborative innovation challenges to transform concepts into scalable solutions with real-world healthcare impact. “AMTZ provides a comprehensive ecosystem for startups and innovators across medical devices, biologics, diagnostics, and more. Through BioValley, one of our incubator arms, we support teams in developing prototypes, conducting pre-clinical testing, and scaling products for real-world healthcare impact. Hackathons like this accelerate innovation, helping ideas transform into solutions that can truly improve patient care,” said Suseela Branham K, CEO of BioValley Incubation Council.
MediValley Incubation Council CEO Dilip Kumar Chekuri said, “MediValley is designed to empower medical electronics startups with end-to-end support, from prototyping and pre-compliance testing to design, production setup, and calibration. By leveraging our labs and expert guidance, innovators participating in the MedTech Hackathon can rapidly translate their ideas into validated, scalable solutions, driving India’s position as a global hub for medical technology development.”
During the hackathon, the startups will be working closely within AMTZ’s advanced technical centres, translating ideas into scalable solutions with healthcare impact. The event will also provide opportunities for mentorship, networking and access to potential investors and industry partners.
