Malabar Gold Charitable Trust extends aid to meritorious students

Rajamahendravaram: Tourism,Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh on Sunday said the support extended by voluntary organisations to students is commendable and plays a vital role in nation-building. He was speaking at a programme organised by Malabar Gold Charitable Trust at Tyagaraja Narayanadasa Seva Samithi in the city. Under its CSR initiative, the organisation provided scholarships worth Rs. 22.56 lakh to 286 meritorious girl students from government colleges in Rajamahendravaram, Kovvur and Nidadavole.

The Minister appreciated the organisation for allocating five per cent of its profits towards social services, particularly for promoting girls’ education. “Such initiatives significantly contribute to building a strong and progressive society,” he said.

He advised students to focus not only on academics but also on developing communication skills and leadership qualities. He also suggested that they make use of the ‘Micro Learning Centres’ to be set up by Malabar Gold in the near future.

Durgesh noted that both the Central and State governments are giving special attention to the education of girl students and taking steps to support their academic growth. Many dignitaries, including Maturi Manga Tayaru, G Subhadra, B, Ratnakumari, Ch. Lakshmi Srinivas and others participated.
