Vijayawada: Manipal Hospitals here, incollaboration with the South Asian Liver Institute, hosted a comprehensive academic forum titled "The Liver Conclave" on Sunday, which focused on advancements in the management of liver diseases. The event brought together leading clinicians, surgeons, and healthcare professionals to share insights and best practices in hepatology and liver transplantation. The Manipal-South Asian Liver Programme, which has successfully performed over 100 liver transplants, is one of the most established initiatives in the state.

The event was inaugurated by ITC Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ganesh Kumar Sundar, along with AP Medical Council Scientific Section Member Dr Keshavarao Babu, Jeevandaan chairman Dr K Rambabu, Manipal-South Asian Liver Programme Director Dr Tom Cherian, and Manipal Hospital Director J Ramanjaneya Reddy. Over 350 doctors attended the program.

The conclave featured scientific sessions covering critical care, liver surgery, and hepatology, along with expert talks and panel discussions. Key topics included the management of liver disease complications outside hospital settings, the basics of liver transplantation, patient selection, ICU care, and case-based discussions. A hands-on workshop on cadaveric organ procurement was also conducted for young surgeons. Prof Dr Tom Cherian emphasised that platforms like this help bridge knowledge gaps and improve patient outcomes. Hospital Director J Ramanjaneya Reddy highlighted the institution’s commitment to medical education and collaborative learning.
