PNB donates books, chairs to Tagore Library on 132nd Foundation Day

Vijayawada: Marking the 132nd Foundation Day of Punjab National Bank, a donation of books and chairs worth Rs 30,000 was made to Tagore Library in an event held on Sunday at the library premises on Mahatma Gandhi Road.

The foundation day, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai, was celebrated in a grand manner. The programme was attended by Krishna Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha chairman MS Baig as chief guest, along with Kavitha Franc, Head of PNB Vijayawada Circle Office.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha Franc said that the bank is committed to contributing to society and public welfare. As part of this initiative, PNB donated books and comfortable chairs to the library to support students. She emphasised the importance of developing reading habits from a young age, stating that books played a vital role in shaping their own careers. She added that providing proper seating facilities would help students study comfortably for long hours.

She also referred to the vision of Narendra Modi, who has highlighted the crucial role of youth in achieving a developed India by 2047, and said that youth have the power to transform the nation. Kavitha expressed pride in PNB’s participation in such meaningful social service.

Chairman MS Baig, in his address, said that there are plans to modernise libraries by integrating technology and transforming them into smart libraries. He appreciated the efforts of organisations like PNB for coming forward to support library development and education. On the occasion, Kavitha Franc was felicitated with a shawl and a memento.

The event was attended by PNB Deputy Head of the Circle L Ramanath, staff members, Library Officer K. Ramadevi, staff member Y Dhanalakshmi, Bank employees, and students from various schools.
