Visakhapatnam: Bringing in a comprehensive digital platform to transform urban tourism and make tourists experience worthy, Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority rolled out ‘VISTA – VMRDA Integrated Smart Ticketing Application.’ The newly-launched VISTA platform is not merely a ticketing system but a unified digital ecosystem designed to integrate tourism-related services across Visakhapatnam. The endeavour reflects the government’s push towards smart governance, digital innovation, and citizen-centric services.
The platform brings together a wide range of features that significantly enhance tourists’ convenience.
It enables unified digital ticketing for parks, museums, and tourist destinations while offering QR code-based contactless entry for faster and more secure access to the VMRDA-managed tourist spots. Visitors can use a single pass to access multiple tourist spots, book visits in advance and receive real-time updates on timings and availability.
The system is accessible through multiple channels including mobile applications, web portals, WhatsApp, designated kiosks and counters. It also supports venue bookings for events and integrates seamless payment options such as UPI, cards and digital wallets.
Additional features like navigation services and feedback systems ensure a smooth and interactive user experience. Officials note that VISTA is set to deliver a seamless, queue-free tourism experience by enabling advanced online booking and eliminating long waiting times. Visitors can plan their trips efficiently, access all necessary information at one place and enjoy a hassle-free visit to tourist spots.
The platform also enhances better administration by enabling centralised monitoring of ticketing, revenue, and visitor data, ensuring real-time visibility, accountability and transparency. By integrating multiple destinations under a single platform, VISTA strengthens Visakhapatnam’s position as a smart tourism hub while also boosting the local economy. It provides increased visibility to local businesses and tourism services, allowing them to reach a broader audience and grow sustainably.
A key highlight of VISTA is its use of AI-driven analytics and smart management capabilities. The system leverages AI and CCTV integration to monitor footfall and crowd density in real time, while predictive analytics helps estimate visitor trends and peak hours. This enables smarter crowd management, improved safety and better resource allocation. Real-time dashboards and MIS reports support data-driven decision-making, while revenue and performance analytics aid in financial planning. The platform also offerspersonalised notifications and recommendations to users, enhancing engagement and satisfaction.
With VISTA, VMRDA envisions creating a scalable, secure and future-ready digital platform that seamlessly integrates technology with tourism and governance. The broader goal is to place Visakhapatnam as a model smart city for digital tourism in India, offering world-class experiences to visitors while ensuring operational efficiency, informed MV Pranav Gopal, VMRDA chairperson.
