AI-led tax enforcement boosts AP GST collections

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh recorded a 21 per cent growth in net GST collections to Rs13,283 crore during April-July 2026, outpacing the national average of 17 per cent and keeping the State among the fastest-growing major states. The growth was higher than Telangana’s 20 per cent and Tamil Nadu’s 19 per cent, while Odisha recorded 6 per cent growth, according to the Commercial Taxes Department.

Chief Commissioner of State Tax A Babu said the State’s total Commercial Taxes collections rose 20 per cent to Rs20,464.77 crore during the period, from Rs17,059.65 crore a year earlier. Net GST collections in July alone increased 12 per cent year-on-year to Rs3,267 crore from Rs2,930 crore, marking the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year growth in FY 2026-27. The department attributed the improved collections to stronger tax compliance, enhanced enforcement, revenue monitoring and wider economic activity. AI-powered scrutiny, AI-based IGST reversals, UPI-based analytics, DISCOM-linked registration verification and Aadhaar-integrated expansion of profession tax.
