Silver futures climb on high bets

Silver prices rose 0.53 per cent to Rs 2.18 lakh per kg in the futures trade amid a firm global trend.

The white metal for September delivery increased by Rs 1,156, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 2,18,354 per kilogram in a business turnover of 2,206 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in silver prices, analysts said.

In the overseas market, Comex silver futures increased 0.96 per cent to $58.15 per ounce.
