Amitabh Bachchan calls internet a ‘saviour’, reflects on enduring bond with fans

Mumbai: Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan spoke about his deep and long-standing connection with his fans, whom he fondly refers to as his “extended family” or “EF”, expressing gratitude for their unwavering love over the years.
The legendary star shared his thoughts on his personal blog, which he had begun in 2008, and reflected on the remarkable journey that had grown from its first day to an astonishing 6,628 days. He admitted that it was difficult to comprehend how the connection had sustained for so long, crediting the consistent affection and support from his fans.
He stated that his relationship with his extended family had been built on perseverance in thought, word, and action, alongside a strong commitment to remain connected even during challenging moments. The actor emphasised that despite professional demands and travel schedules, he had always made efforts to maintain this bond.
Bachchan also highlighted the importance of internet connectivity in sustaining this relationship. He revealed that while travelling for work across different locations, he ensured access to a stable network, describing it as a “saviour” that enabled him to stay in touch with his fans daily. He added that he felt truly blessed to receive such immense love and affection.
On the professional front, the actor had been busy filming the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. The film also features Kamal Haasan and Prabhas, and is set in a dystopian future centred around a mission to protect a child believed to be the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
He was last seen in the action thriller Vettaiyan, directed by T. J. Gnanavel. The film featured an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami and Ramesh Thilak. The story revolved around a senior police officer who accidentally shot an innocent person while probing a teacher’s murder case.
The megastar is also reportedly set to appear in Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol, with Bachchan expected to portray the character of Jatayu.
