NCW issues final notice to Nora Fatehi in ‘Sarke Chunar’ row, summons Sanjay Dutt

According to reports, the NCW has scheduled the next hearing for April 27 and warned that failure to comply may invite legal consequences.
Mumbai: The controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke has intensified, with the National Commission for Women (NCW) issuing a final opportunity to actress Nora Fatehi to appear before it in person. The commission has also summoned actor Sanjay Dutt as part of the ongoing probe into the matter.
According to reports, the NCW has scheduled the next hearing for April 27 and warned that failure to comply may invite legal consequences. The move comes after earlier summons were reportedly ignored, prompting the commission to take a stricter stance.
The controversy erupted over allegations that the song contains vulgar and sexually suggestive content. The NCW had taken suo motu cognisance of the issue, stating that the material appeared objectionable and potentially in violation of multiple legal provisions, including those related to indecent representation and protection of minors.
The track, which features Fatehi alongside Dutt, is part of the upcoming Kannada film KD: The Devil. Soon after its release, the song faced severe backlash from various quarters, including social media users and public figures, who criticised its lyrics and choreography as inappropriate.
Amid mounting criticism, the makers of the song and its lyricist issued apologies, while the controversial video was eventually taken down from online platforms.
The case has reignited debate over creative freedom and the limits of acceptable content in mainstream entertainment. With the NCW tightening its scrutiny, all eyes are now on the upcoming hearing, which is expected to play a crucial role in determining the future course of action.
