Rupali Ganguly credits PM Modi for Women’s Reservation Bill, calls it a historic step

The actress acknowledged the efforts of countless women who had advocated for the Bill over the years, stating that their long struggle had finally yielded results.
Mumbai: Television actress Rupali Ganguly shared her views on the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill, expressing pride and optimism over increased representation of women in Indian politics.
During an interaction, Rupali highlighted that the legislation, which ensures 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies, had taken nearly three decades to materialise. She noted that the Bill, passed in 2023, marked a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards gender equality and empowerment.
The actress acknowledged the efforts of countless women who had advocated for the Bill over the years, stating that their long struggle had finally yielded results. She said the implementation of the reservation would pave the way for greater participation of women in governance.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rupali credited his leadership for making the Bill a reality. She emphasised that the government had placed women at the centre of its policies and reforms, citing initiatives such as the Sukanya Samriddhi scheme as examples of efforts aimed at improving the welfare of girls and women.
She further remarked that social conditions for women had improved over the years, and attributed this progress to sustained policy focus and reforms. Calling the move commendable, Rupali said the development reflected a broader shift towards prioritising women’s rights and empowerment in the country.
