Rajkummar Rao calls ‘Toaster’ a special project under his banner

The trailer of the upcoming comedy-drama Toaster was unveiled on Saturday, generating excitement among fans ahead of its premiere on Netflix. Actor Rajkummar Rao described the film as particularly special, as it marks the first project produced under the banner he runs with his wife, Patralekhaa.
Speaking about the film, Rajkummar shared that the project holds emotional value for him. “This is a special one for me as it marks our first film under our production house, Kampa Film, produced by Patralekhaa. I’m truly excited to bring this story to audiences,” he said.
The trailer introduces Rajkummar Rao as Ramakant, a quirky and tight-fisted man who takes pride in saving every rupee. Known for his extreme frugality, Ramakant believes that careful spending is the key to success. However, his obsession with money takes an unusual turn when a toaster he once gifted at a wedding goes to waste. Determined not to lose what he paid for, he sets out to retrieve it, unknowingly dragging himself and others into a series of chaotic and humorous situations.
Talking about the character, Rajkummar said the story intrigued him because of how a seemingly trivial issue spirals into an unexpected adventure. According to the actor, Ramakant believes he is simply being practical, which makes the situations he lands in even more unpredictable and entertaining.
The film is directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and produced by Patralekhaa under their production house Kampa Film. Alongside Rajkummar Rao, the movie features Sanya Malhotra in a key role, along with an ensemble cast including Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa.
Toaster is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on April 15.
