IIIT-A launches online executive M.Tech in AI and data science for professionals

New online Executive M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science aims to strengthen advanced technology education and help professionals build expertise in AI, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making
In a move aimed at strengthening advanced technology education for working professionals, the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TeamLease EdTech Ltd. to support the delivery of its Executive M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in online mode.
The agreement marks an important step toward expanding access to postgraduate education in emerging technology domains at a time when artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming industries worldwide. The MoU was signed by Dr. Mandar Subhash Karyakarte, Registrar, IIIT Allahabad, on behalf of the institute.
With AI, machine learning, and data science increasingly influencing sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, finance, cybersecurity, customer experience, analytics, and automation, industry demand for advanced technology skills continues to grow. Educational institutions are responding by creating flexible learning pathways that enable professionals to upskill while continuing their careers.
The Executive M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science has been designed as a two-year online programme that combines academic rigor with practical application. The curriculum is expected to focus on developing a strong conceptual foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science while encouraging learners to apply these concepts to real-world business and technology challenges.
According to the institute, the programme will be coordinated by Dr. Manish Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Information Technology, IIIT Allahabad. It is intended for graduates and professionals from engineering, technology, and related disciplines. While relevant work experience will be preferred, applicants with foundational knowledge of programming and mathematics are also expected to benefit from the programme.
Speaking on the initiative, Prof. Mukul Sharad Sutaone, Director, IIIT Allahabad, said that artificial intelligence and data science are becoming central to innovation across industries. He noted that the programme aims to provide professionals with a structured academic pathway to develop advanced capabilities required in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
Dr. Manish Kumar said the programme has been designed to balance theoretical understanding with practical learning. He added that participants will be encouraged to explore how AI and data science can be applied across diverse industry contexts and problem-solving environments.
As part of the collaboration, TeamLease EdTech will serve as the technology service provider, supporting the programme through online learning infrastructure and learner engagement services. Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO of TeamLease EdTech, said the initiative reflects the growing need for specialised AI and data science education as organisations continue to adopt emerging technologies and transform workforce requirements.
Industry experts note that executive education programmes in AI and data science are gaining importance as professionals seek to stay relevant in rapidly evolving workplaces. The launch of the Executive M.Tech programme reflects the increasing emphasis on lifelong learning and advanced technical education in India’s digital economy. IIIT Allahabad is expected to announce detailed admission schedules, eligibility criteria, and application timelines for the programme in the coming months.
