Mysuru : Nine people from Mysuru district have reportedly been detained by authorities in an African country for allegedly carrying out business activities without obtaining the mandatory permissions from local authorities. The incident has left their families in distress, prompting appeals to the State and Central governments for immediate intervention. The detained individuals are residents of Pakshirajapura village in Hunsur taluk. According to family members, they had travelled to Africa nearly two months ago to market and sell Ayurvedic herbal oil products in the hope of earning a better livelihood.

Following an inspection, local police took all nine individuals into custody.Those detained include former Gram Panchayat president Nironi, along with Prabhudev, Girish, Shahjahan, Shanti and four others.
Concerned family members met former Hunsur MLA H.P. Manjunath, urging him to help secure the release of their relatives and facilitate their safe return to India.Taking up the issue, Manjunath said he had brought the matter to the attention of Minister Dr. Yathindra and urged the State government to intervene.
The families have requested the government to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in the concerned African nation to provide legal assistance and expedite the release of those detained. They expressed hope that diplomatic intervention would help resolve the issue at the earliest and ensure the safe return of all nine persons to Karnataka.
