Guntur: CPI State Secretariat Member Jangala Ajay Kumar demanded that elections be conducted using ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines. He said that the people’s right to vote is crucial to democracy and that the electoral process should ensure complete confidence among voters in the exercise of their franchise.

Addressing the media, he urged the authorities to take necessary measures to enhance transparency in the electoral system. He also called upon the Election Commission to take stringent measures to protect voters’ rights and prevent any possibility of misuse of the voting process.

He said that since governments are formed through the votes of the people, it is the responsibility of governments and the Election Commission to ensure that there are no doubts or apprehensions among the public about the electoral process.

He called upon people to become aware and unite to protect democratic rights. He stressed the need for democratic forces, political parties and people’s organisations to work together to safeguard constitutional values.
