BJP to go solo in civic polls

Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, while preparing for the upcoming elections to civic bodies, has made it clear that it will not have any alliance with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Telugu Desam Party, or the Jana Sena Party (JSP).

According to party sources, party leaders at the national and state levels are on the same page with regard to ties with other political parties in the upcoming elections to civic bodies.

Speaking to The Hans India, a state executive member of the BJP TG unit dismissed the recent visit of one of the top BRS leaders from the state to Delhi, construed as part of the parleys between the BRS and the BJP on forging ties in the upcoming elections to the civic bodies in Greater Hyderabad, as “rumours spread by vested interests”.

The question of having alliance with any other political party did not come up either in the internal or interactive meetings held with the state leaders by the party national chief Nitin Nabin, the source added.

Besides, the issue did not come up even in a more recent meeting that BJP’s national general secretary and organisational strategist looking after West Bengal and Telangana Sunil Bansal had with the state leaders.

Further, the national party has made it clear that the previous exercises of the BRS claiming possible alliances ahead of the elections will not work.
