PD Act invoked against 5 in Khazana Jewellery dacoity

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh has invoked the Preventive Detention Act against five inter-state dacoit offenders involved in a sensational daylight robbery at Khazana Jewellery in Chandanagar. The incident occurred on 12 August 2025 when the gang fired rounds at staff with deadly firearms and threatened employees at gunpoint before looting gold-coated silver ornaments.
The accused have been identified as Abhishek Pandey, Praduman Kumar Singh, Aashish Kumar Singh, Rohit Kumar Rajak, and Shivam Pandey. According to the police, Abhishek Pandey is the kingpin of the gang. All members hail from Bihar and have a history of involvement in multiple property offences involving firearms, leading to frequent arrests by the Bihar Police. In an attempt to evade law enforcement, the gang planned to commit offences in Hyderabad and arrived in the city in possession of weapons.
Following a recce, they targeted the jewellery showroom in Chandanagar. After the dacoity, the Chandanagar Police successfully apprehended the offenders, recovered the stolen ornaments, and seized three deadly firearms used in the crime. The accused were subsequently remanded to judicial custody. To prevent them from repeatedly engaging in criminal activities prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, the Commissioner invoked the PD Act.
This move reinforces the commitment of the Cyberabad Police to maintaining safety and ensuring that habitual offenders from other states are dealt with strictly under the provisions of the law to protect the citizens and business establishments of the metropolitan region.
