High alert over possible heavy rain

Kakinada: The Kakinada district administration has been put on high alert in view of the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad said.
A 24x7 district control room has been set up at the Kakinada Collectorate to monitor the situation continuously and provide emergency assistance to the public. Rainfall, reservoirs, tanks, drainage systems, waterlogging in low-lying areas and road conditions are being monitored through the control room in coordination with the concerned departments. The collector directed officials to take necessary precautionary and relief measures in low-lying and rain-affected areas. The district administration is also closely monitoring vulnerable locations to respond promptly to any emergency.
People have been advised to immediately inform the district control room about flooding or waterlogging, fallen trees, road blockages, damage to houses or government properties, or any need for emergency evacuation.
