Kakinada: Kakinada district joint collector Apoorva Bharat directed officials to make advance arrangements in a coordinated manner to ensure transparent procurement of every grain of paddy produced by farmers during the Kharif 2026-27 season at the government-supported price. The joint collector held a review meeting on Kharif paddy procurement at the Kakinada Collectorate on Thursday with officials from the Civil Supplies Corporation, Civil Supplies Department, Agriculture, Transport, Cooperation, Legal Metrology and Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Apoorva Bharat instructed officials to coordinate closely and complete all field-level arrangements well in advance to ensure smooth procurement. He directed the authorities to provide all necessary facilities at paddy procurement centres so that farmers would not face any inconvenience. The JC said paddy was being cultivated over 70,012 hectares in the district and crop booking had so far been completed for 50,824 hectares.
He instructed officials to ensure the availability of moisture-testing equipment at all 271 Rythu Seva Kendras and paddy procurement centres in the district. Apoorva Bharat also stressed the need to create widespread awareness among farmers about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) being offered by the State government, ensuring that farmers sell their produce at the prescribed support price.
District Civil Supplies Corporation Manager M Ananda Rao and District Supply Officer Prasanna Lakshmi Devi, along with officials from various departments, attended the meeting.
