Karimnagar: Vaidyula Anjan Kumar and Rachakonda Chakradhar Rao were unanimously elected honorary presidents of Karimnagar RTC Depot-I and Depot-II respectively at a meeting held here on Monday. The elections were supported by leaders of INTUC, SWU, TWU and SWF, affiliated to the Congress.
Speaking on the occasion, Anjan Kumar and Chakradhar Rao appealed to RTC employees to ensure a decisive victory for candidates contesting the October 9 recognition elections from Congress-affiliated unions. They said the mandate would demonstrate employees’ support for State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
The leaders said the Congress government had addressed several long-pending issues of RTC employees and taken steps to fulfil their demands since assuming office in Telangana. They assured workers that their concerns would be taken up with the minister for suitable action.
Union leaders TR Reddy, Raju and representatives of various unions attended the meeting.
