Prathima Hospital performs successful keyhole heart bypass surgery
Karimnagar: Doctors at Prathima Medical College and Hospital successfully performed a complex coronary bypass surgery using a minimally invasive keyhole technique on a patient suffering from severe coronary artery disease.
Speaking at a media conference on Monday, CT surgeon Dr Sai Nagalakshmi said the patient had major blockages in the initial portions of the coronary arteries, making stenting unsuitable. Doctors therefore opted for minimally invasive bypass surgery, performed through a small incision without cutting the chest bone. Two grafts were placed to achieve complete revascularisation, and the patient remained stable after the procedure. The surgery was performed free of cost under the Aarogyasri scheme.
The patient, Bhimrao of Ejgaon near Sirpur-Kagaznagar, was shifted to the hospital after sudden chest pain and sweating. His wife thanked the doctors and staff for providing timely treatment. Principal Dr John Israel and other officials were present.
