Ensure conviction of accused: DSP

Wanaparthy: “Court duty officers must strive to ensure that the accused are convicted in every case; court constables must perform their duties responsibly,” said Wanaparthy DSP Giribabu, while conducting a review on pending cases, summons and the execution of non-bailable warrants He stressed that coordination is essential at every stage, from case investigation to the final verdict. The DSP stated that working effectively to secure convictions for the accused not only aids in crime control, but also boosts public trust and confidence in the police department.
Giribabu met court duty officers and constables from the Kothakota circle; he provided guidance on increasing conviction rates, expediting resolution of pending cases and taking measures to ensure the accused receive punishment. The DSP emphasised that court duty police personnel play a crucial role in securing convictions for the accused. He instructed officers to monitor every stage, from the initial registration of the case to the final verdict; to coordinate to ensure evidence--key documents, witness statements and proofs required to establish the accused’s guilt—is submitted to the court on time. Giribabu directed measures be taken to ensure witnesses and victims appear in court on the scheduled dates and that they are provided with information regarding the case. Information received from the court and cases related to the prosecution be promptly conveyed to the SI and investigating officers. He laid emphasis on strengthening coordination among investigating officers, court duty officers and the prosecution.
The DSP conducted a comprehensive review of pending cases, summons and the execution of non-bailable warrants (NBWs). He inquired about the progress of each case; steps to resolve pending cases based on priority; court-issued summons and warrants be executed on time to ensure the accused are produced in courts.
