Food, Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the Rs 200-crore model colony being constructed near Ramaswamy Gutta in Huzurnagar constituency will become a landmark for the entire state. The colony is being developed over 116 acres with 2,160 single-bedroom houses.

During his visit on Tuesday evening to review the progress, the minister said that about 90% of the work has already been completed. Excluding land purchase costs, Rs 125 crore has been spent on construction, and an additional Rs 20 crore has recently been sanctioned. Plans include setting up a Telangana Public School with Rs 10 crore, along with an Anganwadi center, community hall, sports ground, walking track, open gym, CC roads, and drainage systems with another Rs 10 crore. The colony is expected to be inaugurated by the end of April.

The minister announced that beneficiaries will be selected before the inauguration, with 1,500 beneficiaries to be chosen in the first phase. He emphasized that the selection process will be transparent and free from political influence. Strict instructions were given to officials to carefully verify the list and take action against any ineligible recommendations, warning that even a single ineligible name could undermine the project’s objective.

He also cautioned against spreading misinformation and assured that the beneficiary list would be completely transparent, encouraging people to approach officials in case of doubts.

Later, the minister visited the paddy procurement center at the Huzurnagar market yard and reviewed the facilities.

Earlier, at the camp office, he distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and CMR cheques worth Rs 1.80 crore to 437 beneficiaries and also handed over mobile phones to 259 Anganwadi teachers.

The programme was attended by District Collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar, SP K. Narasimha, Housing PD Siddharth, Municipal Chairman Dontagani Srinivas, Market Committee Chairman Radhika Deshmukh, and others.
