Sreenidhi loans: Rs 2 worth cr irregularities uncovered

Major irregularities have come to light in the Sreenidhi loans provided to women Self-Help Groups (SHGs). A social audit revealed that there are recovery dues of approximately Rs 2.35 crore across the mandal. The audit, conducted as part of a pilot project, covered Gudimalkapuram, Chintalapalem VO-1, and Pikla Naik Thanda villages, where discrepancies in records were identified. According to the findings, pending dues amount to Rs 90 lakh in Gudimalkapuram, Rs 30 lakh in Chintalapalem VO-1, and Rs 10 lakh in Pikla Naik Thanda.

During the Gram Sabha meetings, women expressed anger, questioning officials as records showed dues despite them having already repaid their loans. The concerned Village Organizations (VOs) assured that the issues would be resolved within three to six months.
