Venkateswara temple foundation laying ceremony on Oct 12
Khammam: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said the foundation stone for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Allipuram on the outskirts of Khammam city would be laid on October 12.
He was speaking at a preparatory meeting held for the foundation laying ceremony at Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Kalyana Mandapam on Monday.
The Minister said the foundation stone would be laid by Tridandi Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. The temple would be constructed under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), on the lines of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Amaravati, he said.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and TTD chairman B R Naidu for supporting the construction of the temple. He appealed to the people from all sections to participate in the foundation laying ceremony and make it a grand spiritual event. The programme should be conducted in a festive atmosphere with the participation of devotees, he said.
Tummala said the temple, along with the proposed Sri Krishna temple in Khammam city, should be developed on a grand scale so that their spiritual and cultural significance would be preserved for future generations.
He said the proposed Venkateswara temple would be developed as a major spiritual landmark of Khammam with appropriate architectural and spiritual grandeur.
Adding further, he said efforts were being made to improve road connectivity so that people could travel from Khammam to Hyderabad in about three hours.
The Minister also highlighted the construction of the Sitarama irrigation project, describing it as the fulfilment of a decades-old aspiration for irrigation facilities in the region. He again called upon all sections of society, officials, public representatives and devotees to participate in the event and ensure the successful conduct of the foundation-stone ceremony.
