DCC chief seeks protection of Muslim graveyards, Waqf lands

Mahabubnagar: District Congress Committee (DCC) president A Sanjeev Mudiraj submitted a memorandum to the District Collector on Saturday seeking measures to protect Muslim graveyards and Waqf lands in Mahabubnagar. Sanjeev Mudiraj sought a survey and verification of revenue records regarding the Muslim graveyard at Ramachandrapuram village, reportedly spread over about 1 acre and 10 guntas. He also requested measures to identify any encroachments or unauthorised constructions and construction of a compound wall for permanent protection.
He also brought to the Collector’s notice the reported 12 acres and 8 guntas of Waqf land in Survey No. 4 at Amistapur village and sought a detailed inquiry into the land records, encroachments and constructions. He further requested verification of the extent and status of the Muslim graveyard reportedly located in Survey No. 812 near Bagmar Saheb Dargah in Mahabubnagar town.
Sanjeev Mudiraj said official surveys, record verification and legal protection measures should be taken to safeguard such properties and protect public sentiments. DCC committee members and Congress leaders were present.
