150-ft long national flag draws praise from locals
Nalgonda: Over 300 sportspersons, nursing college students, and tourism enthusiasts participated in a Heritage Walk carrying a nearly 150-feet-long national flag, drawing the attention of the public here on Saturday. The event was held on the eve of ‘World Tourism Day.’
District Collector B Chandrasekhar stressed the need to give wider publicity to tourist attractions in Nalgonda district and take steps for their further development. He flagged off a ‘Heritage Walk’ organised by the District Tourism Department from Government General Hospital to Clock Tower.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said Nalgonda is home to prominent tourist destinations, including Nagarjuna Sagar, Buddhavanam, Panagal, Cheruvugattu, and Devarakonda Fort. He said these places should be promoted extensively to attract more visitors and boost tourism in the district.
He noted that Panagal, Nagarjuna Sagar, Buddhavanam, and Cheruvugattu already enjoy considerable recognition and have the potential to attract more tourists with better promotion and development.
Highlighting the historical importance of Devarakonda Fort, Chandrasekhar said there was scope to develop it on the lines of a “Mini Golconda.” He said Nalgonda district has immense potential for tourism development and called upon all stakeholders to actively promote its historical, cultural and tourist attractions.
Deputy Mayor Amir Ali, District Sports Development Officer Akbar Ali, Rafiq, Mallikarjun, Physical Directors, Physical Education Teachers and others participated in the programme.
