Nalgonda: Abdul Bari, who was serving life imprisonment as the accused in the Pranay murder case of Nalgonda, died after reportedly suffering a heart-related ailment while lodged at Cherlapally Central Prison.

According to sources, Bari fell ill after complaining of chest pain. Prison staff shifted him to Gandhi Hospital at Secunderabad, where he died while undergoing treatment. Bari, a resident of Nalgonda town, had earlier served a sentence in connection with the murder case of former Gujarat minister Haren Pandya.

Meanwhile, his body has been shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Further details surrounding his death are awaited.

In March last year, the Nalgonda SC/ST Special Court had delivered its verdict in the Pranay murder case. The court had sentenced Subhash Kumar Sharma to death and awarded life imprisonment to the other convicted accused. This included Maruthi Rao who died by suicide in 2020. The court had convicted Subhash Kumar Sharma, Asgar Ali, Abdul Bari, Kareem, Shravan Kumar, Shiva, and Nizam in the case.
