BC leaders stage protest against YSRCP at Balaji Nagar center in Nellore on Saturday
Nellore: Finding fault with the YSRCP for restricting BC reservations by approaching courts, Backward Classes leaders warned that they would teach a lesson to the party in the coming local body elections.
A large number of BC community members, under the leadership of BC cell district president and Warehousing Corporation Director Kappira Srinivasulu, organized a protest at the Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule statue at Balaji Nagar center in the city on Saturday. Protesters performed a milk abhishekam to the statues, paid floral tributes, and raised slogans against the alleged anti-BC policies of YSRCP under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Speakers noted that while the TDP has supported BCs since the NTR era, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s coalition government took steps to provide 34 percent reservation in local bodies.
They alleged that YSRCP leaders obstructed this by approaching courts, affecting the political prospects of 16,800 BC leaders across panchayats, municipalities, MPTCs, and ZPTCs.
Kappira Srinivasulu stated that the BC community would respond strongly by uniting to support coalition-backed candidates in the forthcoming elections.
State BC vice-president Dharmavarapu Subbarao, city president Mamidala Madhu, and state leaders PL Rao and Ashok were present.
