Nizamabad: Four youths from the erstwhile Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts of Telangana are reportedly stranded at a Russian military camp after allegedly being lured abroad with promises of civilian jobs, their families said.

Bhukya Ravinder, Bhukya Ashok, Megavath Prakash and Mohammad Afzal Khan travelled to Russia after recruiters promised jobs as helpers, cleaners, security guards and support staff. The families alleged that each youth paid agents Rs 3 lakh before being taken to a forest area, where they were reportedly handed guns and subjected to military training. A video message from one of the youths allegedly showed him claiming that they were restrained when they attempted to leave. The families fear the four could be deployed near the Russia-Ukraine war zone. They submitted a representation to CM Pravasi Prajavani in Hyderabad seeking urgent intervention. Officials said the matter would be coordinated with the NRI department, Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
