Ongole: Prakasam district collector P Raja Babu inaugurated 14 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, also called Village Health Clinics, by unveiling the stone plaques at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.
Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav launched Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the state through a virtual meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the clinics will bring modern health services closer to rural people. He noted that basic care will now reach villagers’ doorsteps. He urged people to make good use of the services.
The Collector explained that community health officers with BSc Nursing qualifications, ANMs and ASHA workers will run the clinics. They will provide care for mothers and children, and offer vaccines and tests for blood pressure, sugar, and thyroid. They will also offer referral services for long-term illnesses, cancer and mental health problems. They will also teach yoga.
Additional DMHO Dr Balaji Naik, programme officers B Sravan Kumar and Dr SK Nabi, NHM district programme officer Subbalakshmi, Panchayat Raj engineers, health staff and ASHA workers attended the event.
