Rajamahendravaram:Six newly constructed Ayushman Arogya Mandir buildings in East Godavari district were inaugurated virtually on Tuesday as part of the State-wide launch of the facilities by the Health and Medical Education Minister Satyakumar Yadav from Gudivada. A district-level programme was held at the East Godavari Collectorate conference hall in Bommuru.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Kirti Chekuri said non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cancer were increasing and changes in lifestyle were among the major reasons. Frontline health workers, who are familiar with the conditions of families at the village level, should create awareness about healthy lifestyles, proper food habits, exercise and disease prevention, the Collector said. Ayushman Arogya Mandirs should play a key role in taking healthcare services closer to people, she added.
Anaparthi MLA Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy said providing better medical services in rural areas and creating awareness about preventive healthcare were among the major priorities of the government. Kovvur MLA Muppidi Venkateswara Rao said the medical profession carried great responsibility and urged doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel to work with a service-oriented approach. DMHO Dr P Komali said the Sanjeevani programme enabled patients to book appointments, required medical tests and specialist consultations in advance. This would reduce the waiting time for patients travelling from distant areas, she said. The newly inaugurated Ayushman Arogya Mandirs include one each at Komaripalem in Bikkavolu mandal of Anaparthi constituency, Brahmanagudem and Chagallu in Chagallu mandal of Kovvur constituency, and Kapileswarapuram in Kapileswarapuram mandal of Mandapeta constituency, besides facilities in other identified locations of the district. DRO S Bhaskar Reddy, DCHS M Padma and SE PRK Balakrishna participated.
