Rajamahendravaram: A blood donation camp was organised at SKVT Government Degree College here on Tuesday under the joint auspices of the college Health Club and Youth Red Cross, in association with the Lions Club of Rajamahendravaram and Seva Sankalpa Abhiyan. College principal Dr BV Tirupanyam appreciated the students and others who came forward to donate blood. He said blood donation was a humanitarian act that connected one person’s life with another and could give a fresh lease of life to patients in need.

Head of the Zoology Department B Chakravarthi said a birthday was an occasion to remember the day a person entered the world, but donating blood could help preserve the happiness and well-being of a family for years. Lions Club Project chairman Grandhi Venkateswara Rao said there was no substitute for human blood and only one person could provide the vital support needed by another through blood donation.

Lions Club president Venna Kumaraswamy said blood donation did not distinguish between caste, religion, region or personal acquaintance.

KVT College Faculty members Dr DV Ramana Murthy, K Satyanarayana, Dr DV Nageswara Rao, Dr PVB Sanjeeva Rao and G Sharath participated in the programme.
