Vijayawada: Krishna University Vice-Chancellor Prof Koona Ramji has advised students to develop skills in diverse fields and strive to become all-rounders to succeed in the highly competitive world. He was speaking as the chief guest at the Freshers’ Day celebrations of Nalanda Degree College held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada on Tuesday. Students presented a colourful array of cultural programmes, which received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
He said Krishna University was introducing new courses from time to time and encouraging its affiliated colleges to launch programmes suited to emerging employment opportunities. The university currently had around 150 affiliated colleges, including nine government and nine autonomous colleges, while the remaining institutions were private colleges, he said.
The Vice-Chancellor said Nalanda Degree College in Vijayawada was among the top-ranked affiliated colleges under Krishna University. He appreciated the management for providing students with academic knowledge as well as industry-relevant skills and for its efforts to facilitate employment opportunities for graduates. Nalanda Educational Institutions Chairman A Vijay Babu, who attended the programme as a special guest, said the institutions were focusing on both education and skill development. College Principal M Anuradha, who presided over the Freshers’ Day programme of Nalanda Degree College, said the college was offering new courses and providing training in subject knowledge, communication and job-oriented skills.
