Visakhapatnam: At a time when younger generation is often glued to mobile screens and social media content, a section of students hosted a programme under the banner ‘Parinama’, highlighting the importance of performing arts and underlining the significance of embracing art, tradition and culture in the city on Friday.

At the day-long event organised by Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, students of GITAM Deemed to be University showcased their creative skills, demonstrating how art continues to play a predominant role even in the era of digital screens.

As part of the event, students brought out various themes on canvases. They presented musical renditions and performed Classical dance. Institution’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Y Gouthama Rao distributed prizes to the performers and underlined that the event was the visible impact of the New Education Policy (NEP).

Registrar D Gunasekharan said that engaging with fine arts helps students distance themselves from mobile addiction and enrich their lives with a more holistic approach.

The event was organised and coordinated by noted scholar A Malyada and her dedicated team from the humanities department.
