Visakhapatnam: With the onset of the major festive season, including Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath, railway stations and trains are expected to receive a significant increase in passenger footfall.
To ensure smooth transit and address the challenges posed by the surge General Manager of South Coast Railway (SCoR) Sandeep Mathur conducted a comprehensive review of crowd management measures with all principal heads of the departments (PHODs) and Divisional Railway Managers of all the divisions here on Tuesday.
During the review, the General Manager directed all divisional officials to implement elaborate operational arrangements, which includes 24/7 monitoring and security, increasing the ticketing and passenger assistance. To clear the extra rush, SCoR is presently operating special trains to various destinations and has augmented existing weekly and long-distance trains with additional coaches.
South Coast Railway administration appeals to all passengers to adopt safe travel practices. Passengers are strictly advised against foot-board traveling, crossing railway tracks or boarding trains from the non-platform side, pulling the alarm chain without a valid emergency, boarding coaches specifically designated for ladies or Divyangjan.
