Round table meet raises questions over Centre’s economic and governance policies

Karimnagar: A round table meeting chaired by former Indian Medical Association (IMA) president and B.N. Rao Foundation chairman Dr B.N. Rao was held in Karimnagar on Sunday to deliberate on the NDA government’s economic and administrative policies. Representatives of various organisations, professionals and public speakers attended the programme and shared their views on several national issues.

During the discussion, speakers alleged that the 2016 demonetisation exercise had adversely affected the country’s economy and caused hardship to people. They also claimed that the BJP’s pre-election promise of depositing ₹15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account through the recovery of black money had not been fulfilled.

Participants expressed concern over rising inflation, increasing prices of LPG, petrol, diesel and essential commodities, and the country’s growing debt burden. They also criticised the privatisation of public sector enterprises, the electoral bonds scheme, and alleged that the promise of creating two crore jobs annually remained unfulfilled.

The speakers further raised concerns over examination paper leaks, including the NEET controversy, and alleged that central investigating agencies were being used against Opposition leaders. Addressing the gathering, Dr B.N. Rao urged citizens to safeguard democratic values and remain vigilant in protecting democratic institutions. Representatives of several political parties, public organisations and social activists attended the meeting.
