Smartphones distributed to Anganwadi teachers

In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots nutrition and childcare services, smartphones were distributed to Anganwadi teachers of the Karimnagar Urban Project at TNGO Bhavan on Wednesday. The distribution was carried out by Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar, Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, and SUDA Chairman Narendra Reddy.
On the occasion, 17 differently-abled beneficiaries were also provided with retrofitted motor vehicles to enhance their mobility and independence. As part of the Prajapalana Pragathi Pranalika, A growth drive was conducted in which rewards and prizes were awarded to children who were found to be healthy.
The programme also marked the launch of Poshan Pakhwada, scheduled to be observed from April 9 to 23, focusing on nutrition awareness and child health. Speaking on this occasion, MLA Gangula Kamalakar urged beneficiaries to make full use of Anganwadi services. He noted that the government’s initiative to provide smartphones to Anganwadi staff would usher in greater transparency and efficiency in service delivery.
Mayor Kolagani Srinivas stated that the primary objective behind distributing smartphones is to facilitate the effective implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan app and to accelerate the data entry process. Officials informed that Samsung smartphones were procured and distributed to Anganwadi teachers under the Karimnagar Urban Project. Each device costs around 12,000.
These phones are specifically for the Anganwadi teachers and helpers to record the survey data, maintain details of children, and update health information of pregnant and lactating women, To ease the data entry and app usage.
Cultural performances by children are the key highlights. District Welfare Officer Saraswathi, CDPO Sabitha, DMHO Dr. Venkata Ramana, supervisors, Poshan Abhiyaan coordinators, and Anganwadi teachers participated
in the event.
