Vemulawada unveils scenic spiritual retreat at Gudicheruvu Lake

Rajanna Sircilla: Vemulawada, popularly known as Dakshina Kashi for the renowned Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple, has added a new attraction for devotees with the development of Gudicheruvu Bund Park. Located beside the historic temple, the park offers a blend of spirituality, nature and recreation, giving pilgrims a tranquil space to unwind after offering prayers.

Developed by the Tourism Department with Rs 12 crore provided by the Vemulawada Temple Area Development Authority (VTADA), the project has transformed the Gudicheruvu lakefront into a scenic destination. The park’s centrepiece is a 40-foot-tall idol of Lord Shiva overlooking the lake, while idols of the Sapta Matrikas further enhance its spiritual ambience. Designed to reflect the essence of Shaivism, the park also features a Nataraja fountain, a Surya Namaskar platform, landscaped gardens, walking tracks, cobblestone pathways and an amphitheatre. The Tourism Department is also planning to introduce boating facilities, which are expected to further boost tourism in Vemulawada.

The project was completed under the close supervision of Rajanna Sircilla District Collector Garima Agrawal. Officials believe the new facility will not only enrich the pilgrimage experience but also establish Vemulawada as a destination where spirituality, culture and nature come together.
