Over 160 minor boys trafficked from Bihar for labour work in Maharashtra were rescued in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, after a joint operation by RPF and GRP.

In a major rescue operation, authorities saved 163 minor boys who were allegedly being trafficked from Bihar to Maharashtra for labour work. The children were intercepted aboard an express train in Katni by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP).
The boys, aged between six and 13, were reportedly being transported to work in Latur when officials acted on a tip-off received from the Child Welfare Committee. Upon inspection, authorities found irregularities, including the absence of valid tickets and proper documentation, raising suspicion of trafficking.
During the overnight operation at Katni railway station, eight individuals accompanying the children were detained. All of them are believed to be from different districts of Bihar. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions related to child trafficking under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Preliminary findings suggest that the children were being taken for forced labour. Officials have begun a detailed investigation to uncover the network behind the operation and identify those involved.
The rescued children have been placed under the care of child protection units in Katni and Jabalpur. Authorities are currently verifying their identities and attempting to contact their families. Counselling sessions are also being conducted to support the children after the traumatic experience.
