A constable in Morena alleged harassment and denial of leave for kidney stone treatment, but Madhya Pradesh Police denied the claims, citing procedural lapses.

A constable in Morena has triggered controversy after posting a video alleging harassment and denial of medical leave despite suffering from kidney stones.

Constable Roop Singh claimed that he was unwell and required treatment but was not granted leave. He further alleged that instead of being relieved from duty, he was asked to perform domestic chores, including washing utensils, at the official residence of the district’s Superintendent of Police.

According to Singh, he had requested around 15 days of leave for treatment and informed senior officials about his condition, but his application was rejected. In the video, he expressed distress over his situation and questioned the lack of support within the department.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, drawing attention to his allegations.

However, the Madhya Pradesh Police has denied the claims. Officials stated that the constable had been absent from duty for two days and suggested that the video may have been recorded under the influence of alcohol.

Police representatives also said that Singh later submitted a written statement admitting he was intoxicated while recording the video. They added that proper procedures for applying for medical leave were not followed, noting that such requests require formal documentation and approval.

While authorities maintain that due process was not adhered to, the incident has raised broader concerns about workplace conditions and access to medical leave within the force.
