Distressing case of 17-yr-old-girl’s sexual abuse

Berhampur: Berhampur police uncovered a distressing case involving the sexual exploitation of a 17-year-old girl from Andhra Pradesh, exposing layers of vulnerability, betrayal and exploitation.
Police have implicated three persons in the crime. They have been identified as Arjun Nayak (22), Aditya Nayak (19) and a 15-year-old boy.
The trio are residents of Dipa Sahi, Lanjipalli in Berhampur. The IIC of Gosaninuagaon police station visited the spot, rescued the victim and started investigation. The victim has since been presented before the Child Welfare Committee and her medical examination conducted.
Two adult accused were arrested and forwarded to the court. The other Juvenile (Child in Conflict with Law) was forwarded to the Juvenile Justice Board. Action will also be taken against the stepfather of the victim, said the police. The investigation, which is ongoing, is led by DSP Smruti Prava Pradhan.
According to police sources, the victim girl belongs to Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. After her father died, her mother married again. The victim was being ill-treated and allegedly sexually abused by her stepfather. She then ran away from Kadapa by boarding Prashanti Express. She reached Berhampur railway station four days before the incident.
The minor girl worked in a tea shop near Platform 4 and stayed with a couple, who also worked in the shop. While working there, she befriended a 15-year-old boy from Dipu Sahi. On March 29, the 15-year-old friend took the victim to his home where his mother was also there. They offered her food and she stayed there.
Later, the accused and two friends convinced the pair to accompany them to an isolated spot. There, after consuming intoxicants, the two adult suspects raped the victim, according to police.
