Dog Sterilisation ‘Scam’ Suspected In Madhya Pradesh After 795 Animal Organs Recovered

Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla uncover 795 preserved dog organs, triggering a probe into an alleged sterilisation scam involving a private NGO.
A shocking case in Mandla has raised serious concerns after officials recovered 795 preserved dog reproductive organs from a rented premises, pointing to a possible large-scale fraud linked to sterilisation contracts. The discovery has prompted a police investigation into the origin of the organs and whether they were used to falsely claim completed procedures.
The Mandla Municipal Council had earlier issued a tender for dog sterilisation at a fixed rate per procedure, awarding the contract to a Jabalpur-based NGO, Maa Ambe Enterprises. However, officials later alleged that the agency failed to carry out any sterilisation work despite repeated notices, leading to the cancellation of the contract on April 2.
The matter came to light after an animal activist lodged a complaint about suspicious activities at a location rented by the NGO. Acting on this, a joint team of municipal officials, police personnel, veterinary experts, and local authorities conducted a raid at the site.
During the inspection, two containers filled with formalin-preserved organs were seized. These included 518 male and 277 female dog reproductive organs. The complainant alleged that these may have been sourced from elsewhere and stockpiled to fabricate records and generate fraudulent bills under the sterilisation programme.
Veterinary experts noted that while sterilisation procedures involve removal of reproductive organs, the unusually large number recovered without any documented procedures raises serious doubts about malpractice.
Officials confirmed that no sterilisation work had been carried out under municipal supervision. Authorities have now requested the registration of an FIR, while police continue to record statements and examine all angles of the case. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
