Gwalior Wedding Violence: Mob Assaults Groom’s Family After Alcohol Money Refusal

A wedding in Gwalior turned violent after villagers attacked the groom’s family for refusing money for alcohol, injuring several and looting valuables, police said.
A wedding celebration in Gwalior escalated into violence when a group of villagers allegedly attacked the groom’s family after being denied money to purchase alcohol.
The incident took place on March 30, shortly after the bride arrived at her new home following the ceremony. While family members and guests were gathered for a meal, a few villagers reportedly entered the premises and demanded cash for alcohol. When their request was refused, the situation quickly turned aggressive.
The group allegedly began verbally abusing those present before physically assaulting the bride and several members of both families. The bride’s mother was among the injured and later approached the police to file a complaint. Multiple others also sustained injuries during the attack.
Amid the chaos, the attackers are said to have looted cash and other valuables from the house. Guests attempted to intervene and calm the situation, but tensions between the groups remained high.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital and received medical treatment. Meanwhile, both sides have lodged complaints with the police, who have launched an investigation and assured appropriate action against those involved.
The incident has left the family and local community awaiting legal action and recovery after the disruption of what was meant to be a celebratory occasion.
