MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announces a grand Tiranga Yatra in Bhopal for August Kranti Diwas and orders dedicated Mallakhamb and Gymnastics academies in the state.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday directed officials to organise a grand Tiranga Yatra in Bhopal on August 9 to mark ‘August Kranti Diwas’ and called for celebrating Independence Day across the state with enthusiasm to promote the spirit of patriotism.

Reviewing the Sports and Youth Welfare Department at the State Shooting Academy in Bhopal, Yadav said August is the month of celebrating India’s freedom and urged citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in Independence Day programmes.

He said Independence Day should be celebrated with great enthusiasm and a grand Tiranga Yatra should be organised in Bhopal on August 9 with active participation of citizens and youth. The yatra, he added, should strengthen the spirit of patriotism and reinforce the values of freedom.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the state’s sports infrastructure and directed officials to improve training, nutrition and coaching facilities for athletes.

He said athletes from Madhya Pradesh were bringing laurels in national and international competitions and should be provided better training, modern facilities and timely incentives to perform even better.

Yadav directed the Sports Department to finalise rules for incentives, cash awards and government jobs for medal winners in the Olympics and other international competitions at the earliest.

He also ordered the immediate establishment of dedicated Mallakhamb and Gymnastics academies and asked officials to prepare an action plan for developing sports complexes near Sandipani schools in coordination with other departments to identify and nurture talent.

He further directed officials to expedite land allocation for sports infrastructure projects, develop sport‑specific facilities in districts that have consistently produced talented athletes, and identify quality government and private sports complexes capable of hosting national and international competitions.

The Chief Minister also asked the department to explore corporate participation in developing sports infrastructure in the state on the lines of Haryana and Odisha.
