A routine Rapido bike ride in Bengaluru reportedly turned into a frightening ordeal after the rider crashed into a car and allegedly tried to flee the scene while the passenger was still on the bike.

The passenger shared the incident in a social media post, describing the experience as a “real-life GTA Vice City” situation.

According to the passenger, the incident began at a traffic signal when the Rapido captain allegedly failed to concentrate on the road and crashed into a car that was stationary at the red light.

The impact nearly caused the bike to topple over, with much of its weight falling on the passenger’s left ankle, causing significant pain.

The car owner reportedly approached the captain and asked him to move to the side so they could discuss the accident. However, the situation allegedly took a dramatic turn when the captain suddenly started the bike and attempted to leave while the passenger was still seated.

The car owner then began following the bike. The passenger said they repeatedly shouted at the captain to stop for around 1 to 1.5 kilometres, but he allegedly ignored the requests.

According to the account, the pursuing car came dangerously close to the bike several times, leaving the passenger fearing that their leg could be hit. The passenger compared the frightening chase to GTA Vice City, but without a “respawn button.”

The captain eventually took the passenger into a narrow lane and stopped the bike. The passenger alleged that he asked them to get off, pulled the helmet from their head and then fled the area.

The passenger said they subsequently contacted Rapido for assistance. Despite the complaint being escalated to the company's Priority Zero team, they claimed they did not receive the expected help.

The incident later attracted attention on social media, with users expressing concern for the passenger and criticising the alleged conduct of the rider. Several commenters also raised broader concerns about reckless driving and safety among bike-taxi passengers in Bengaluru.

The passenger described the episode as more than just a road accident, saying the alleged attempt to flee while they were still on the moving bike was particularly terrifying and made them fear they could suffer serious injuries.

Always love to raise the unraised matter. In a world of worries, I am always ready to come over my comfort zone and taking the step ahead of spreading awareness.
