India is gaining prominence as an emerging hub in the global aluminium industry, with experts highlighting significant opportunities despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. This was the key focus of a press conference organised by the Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI) at The Leela Palace in Chanakyapuri, where stakeholders discussed the theme “Opportunities in the Aluminium Industry and the Impact of Global Crisis.”

The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada as the chief guest, along with industry leaders, policymakers and experts. Discussions centred on the impact of global developments, particularly tensions such as the Iran-Israel conflict, on supply chains, energy prices and industrial output. Participants noted that these disruptions are affecting global manufacturing dynamics, but also creating space for countries like India to strengthen their industrial position.

ALEMAI president Jitendra Chopra presented an overview of the current aluminium industry landscape in India, outlining its growth trajectory and export potential. He also offered a preview of the upcoming “Aluminium India 2026” initiative, which is expected to serve as a platform to boost innovation, investment and global collaboration in the sector.

Experts at the conference emphasised that the current global environment presents India with a strategic opportunity to transform challenges into advantages. With increasing focus on self-reliance and manufacturing expansion, the aluminium sector is expected to play a vital role in supporting economic growth and industrial development.
