  • A 34-year-old woman’s skeletal remains were discovered in a locked Meerut home months after her death.
  • Her father, who allegedly lived with the body, is now under investigation.

A disturbing case has emerged from Meerut, where the skeletal remains of a 34-year-old woman were discovered inside her home nearly four months after her death, raising serious questions about the circumstances and delay in reporting the incident.
The woman, identified as Priyanka, lived with her father, Uday Bhan Biswas. According to relatives, the house had remained locked for months, and both had been missing from the neighbourhood. Suspicion grew when repeated attempts to contact them failed, eventually leading family members to trace the father at a local tea stall.
Initially, he claimed that his daughter had been admitted to a hospital in Dehradun due to illness. However, upon further questioning, he allegedly confessed that she had died and that her body was still inside their home.
Police were alerted and broke open the locked house, where they found Priyanka’s remains in an advanced state of decomposition, almost reduced to a skeleton. Family members revealed that the house was filled with scrap and papers, and alleged that the father had sprayed perfume to suppress the foul smell. They also claimed he stayed in the house with the body for several days after her death.
Neighbours said the family kept to themselves, adding that Priyanka had been unwell for a long time and was often taken for treatment by her father. She was reportedly undergoing treatment for both physical and mental health issues. The family further stated that Priyanka’s mother had died in a similar manner years ago, after which the father and daughter lived in isolation.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case and said further action will depend on evidence and findings from the ongoing probe.
