Anugola: Anugola police have rescued a 23-year-old woman who was abducted to Madhya Pradesh in July and sold to a buyer in Sagar district. The rescue followed the registration of an FIR on September 28. Police have arrested four persons in connection with the case.
They have been identified as Sandhya Sen (35) and Suresh Awihar (32) from Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, alongside Tuna Mukhi (35) and Tinu Mukhi (32) from Anugola. According to police, a woman from Ekagharia village was taking shelter at the old bus stand during heavy night rains in Anugola on July 9, when a couple approached her.
The couple, identified as Tuna and Tinu Mukhi, allegedly lured her with the promise of finding her a suitable marriage partner.
They boarded the woman onto a train to Sagar district and left her at the residence of Sandhya Sen.
Sandhya confined the woman before selling her to a man named Suresh Ahirwar for Rs 1.2 lakh. According to police, Suresh then forced her into marriage and kept her locked in a room.
Police said the woman later managed to inform her father in Anugola about her ordeal. Her father then lodged a complaint at the Anugola Town police station on September 28, stating that she had been abducted, forcibly sold, and married in Sagar district. Prompted by the complaint, Anugola SP Rahul Jain deployed two police teams.
